What is the Fairtrade Towns Initiative?

This was set up by The Fairtrade Foundation, local communities could therefore demonstrate their commitment to Fairtrade in a high profile way, by becoming a Fairtrade Town. At present, only two places in County Durham have Fairtrade status, Chester-le-Street and Durham City.
